The Dish on Dish!

DISH jeans is a Girl Friday favourite! They offer premium denim fits and washes, yet all of their jeans are less than $100 a pair! We love Dish because of the wide variety of styles they have. And you'll love them too, especially this Thursday, September 24th when we offer 15% off of DISH from 5-8pm! You will find the perfect pair, as dish has everything from an ultra skinny to a trouser flare!
Danielle is wearing TRIXIE Delphi vintage $94
(own t-shirt)

Danielle is walking down College street in her vintage wash Trixies. Trixie are Dish's straight leg jean, and Dee loves them because they are a perfect alternative to the skinny jean. Danielle bought these ones a few sizes bigger than normal, which gives the boyfriend jean look, without looking frumpy. Now her husband won't be mad at her anymore for stealing his jeans!

Tessa is wearing DESERAY Valletta $94
(own t-shirt)

Deseray is Dish's flare jean. Tessa loves them because they fit her hourglass shape, the wide flare balances out her hips. The dark wash gives a clean, slim line and makes her legs look like they go on for days. The wash is great because she can dress them up or pair it with sneakers to look oh, so fresh!

Jenn is wearing PARIS Valletta $94
Pure & Simple cowl tank $46
C'est moi tank $16

The PARIS is Dish's skinny jean. Its great because its not too fitted, so it looks classic, but can still be tucked into boots. Jenn loves the clean stitching, which allows them to be dressed up. The fabric is extremely comfortable, which is great for all of the running around we do at Girl Friday.
Kelsey is wearing PARIS ULTRA SKINNY Elba $92
Kersh t-shirt $28

The Paris ULTRA is Dish's tightest fitting denim yet. Kelsey loves them because they fit like a glove, yet the fabric has so much movement to them that she can still comfortably run around town. They are great to tuck into any boot she owns, and with winter coming, it will keep her jeans from getting those horrible salt stains.

Top: Akiko- Feather peasant top- $235
Jeans: Dish- Paris "8" Portofino- $92

"The top is stunning... the jeans are even better. It's so nice to have a skinny jean that actually has a higher rise. When I sit down I don't have to show my underwear to the rest of the world and it's under $100! The quality of the denim is fantastic, the wash is very sophisticated, and these jeans are not so skinny that you can't wear them every day, and will easily tuck into boots this Winter!"

What's in the Window this Week?

It's that time of year... you're not quite ready to put your jeans on, but it feels like it's time to retire the summer dresses and flip flops for the season. I've seen this dress on a lot of different body types and it looks great on everyone. It's perfect for right now with bare legs and ballet flats, or in a month with tights and boots!

Dress: Girl Friday "Delila Dress"- $130
Brooch: Cpak- $16

What's in the Window this Week

Top: Kersh Black long sleeve- $26
Jeans: Dish "Paris" Ultra Skinny in Elba- $92
Vest: NUMPH "Mille" Sweater -$120

This outfit was inspired by the purple NUMPH vest. It says "Fall" to me. It secretly makes me wish for the leaves to change and cool breezes to blow into the city, just so I can be seen around town wearing this sweater vest!!

Back to School Disasters!

I know that many of us are no longer in school, but doesn't September inspire you to start fresh? I always get the itch around this time... I'm tired of my Summer wardrobe, and want to look different.... and fabulous, of course!

That being said, I'm sure we've all had back to school fashion disasters. We all try to re-create ourselves, and sometimes it works... but when you're young, it often doesn't. Who doesn't remember picking out that perfect outfit for the first day of school, and having it turn into a total nightmare? We'd like to share with you some of our first day faux-pas, and to show you some looks from Girl Friday's Fall collections to get you in the mood to try something new, without catastrophic results!

My biggest fashion disaster (I've had so many) was on my first day at a new school and new town. I had moved from a school that was super-preppy (this was the late 80's) to a rural community. I really wanted to look extra cool and wore a pair of forest green jodhpur pants and an ivory Ralph Lauren button down shirt (you know, the one with the horse). I felt like I had just stepped out of a magazine, until I got to school. Everyone was wearing either ripped up jeans and t-shirts, or cowboy shirts, hats, and boots (Alberta cowboy country). I stuck out like such a sore thumb. My outfit yelled "New Girl from the City!"

Now, let's hear from Kelsey:
"This was my first day of Grade 8. I had saved up my Summer allowance for back-to-school shopping (if I hadn't I would have been forced to peruse the racks of Zeller's with my mom). I proceeded to Le Chateau, which was the COOLEST store at the mall. I saw a shirt hanging on the rack, and immediately knew it had to be mine. I couldn't wait until the first day of school to wear it! I showed up to school thinking that I was wearing the best outfit you've ever seen. Apparently, baby-doll t-shirts with stripes and neon cat-heads flying was not considered cool. The whole day everyone laughed at my t-shirt when they saw me, and it took a year to pass until they stopped making fun of me and the shirt!"

Here's Kelsey's Ultimate Fall Outfit!

She's wearing:
Top: Free People Chain Tank- $136
Jeans: Dish "Paris Ultra Skinny" Elba wash- $92
Boot: Rocketdog "Chain Gang Boot"- $100
Earrings: HEN Coin dangles- $52

Here's Tessa's Back-to-School disaster:
"You know how everyone wants to be in the popular crew? Well, I was no exception. I'm a tomboy, so during the first week of school I joined the Field Hockey team and after try-outs my knees were grass-stained. I found the cool girls sitting on the bleachers and went to sit with them, hoping to be included. It was going well, until one of them asked me why my knees were dirty. I got up to go to the washroom to clean them, which was when I lost my balance and fell off the bleachers and immediately out of the cool crew!"

Here's Tessa's Ultimate Fall Outfit!

Tessa's wearing:
Dress: Colcci Argyle Dress- $100
Leggings: C'est Moi- $20
Cardigan: Colcci- $110
Necklace: HEN Vintage Hidden Gem necklace- $56
Boots: Steven "Reinaa" Boot in Black- $190
Bag: SQ Purple Braided Purse- $50

Here's Jenn's sad story:
"I went to a school with uniforms, so my first day of school was never exciting, except for the year that I tried out some turquoise highlights in my hair to spice up my outfit and they turned partially orange! Then, I added some combat boots to go with my kilt. FASHION DISASTER!!!"

Here's Jenn's Ultimate Fall outfit!
